Machu Picchu and the Amazon Jungle, two of life's must see destinations..., the Amazon rainforest, located in the north side of the South American continent, is the biggest forest in the world and is also the last big space covered with tropical plants and live animals. Up high in the Andes, at 7,000 feet above sea level, the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu soars above the Urubamba Valley. Machu Picchu is a settlement built by the Incas in the fifteenth century. Inca, or Inka, is the given name to the inhabitants of the Huatanay River's basin, in which banks the city of Cusco was built. Before that time the Incas had succeeded in forming a kingdom that dominated the middle part of the Vilcanota River.
Machu Picchu, amusing the world for its spectacular location high above in the Andes, awaits still in its natural setting. Cusco, once the center of the Inca Empire and now a vibrant gateway to the ancient Inca world, is located even at a higher altitude. An infinity of species of flora and fauna, many of which are not found anywhere else, live together in totally unique autonomy in the Peruvian Amazon Basin.
